Time Keeps On Slipping...

Time is slipping away from me. Seriously. Where does it go?! Hard to fit blogging into the schedule these days, so here is a recap with some videos.

My Funny Valentine- Preston had a great Valentine's Day and LOVED getting candy. The kid would only eat candy if we would let him. We made some SUPER cute treats for his classmates, too.

Sweet Sibs

What most of my photos look like. 99 out of 100, anyway.

Our future star- Callie has started pulling up on everything, and a few days ago started playing the piano for us. Preston was amazed and I think has finally realized that she will be fun to play with soon! (Not yet, but maybe soon? PLEASE??) She's also drinking by herself now...wait till the end for the "ahhh" noise I taught her. So refreshing! This afternoon she decided she was ready to crawl all the way upstairs. I, however, am not ready for this. Time to dust off the baby gate.

Carnival- My school holds a carnival every other year, and Preston had a blast last night. (Callie stayed home with Daddy since her bedtime is so early.)  P loved the "bouncy house" best, as well as the cotton candy. Smart kid.

More fun to come, I'm sure!

Rock Chalk

P has a pretty bad cold, but was still willing to show off some artwork from school for me today. "O" week octopus painting, and some "P" week goodies. A Puppy-Paper-Puppet and a Popsicle-Playdough-Pasta-Porcupine. The Porcupine is super cute!
And a message for the Jayhawks-- big game today!
A few silly potty stories:
Went to a restaurant last weekend with P, and he wanted to use the bathroom a few times. I have to remind him to keep his penis down while sitting on the pot so it doesn't spray everywhere. So he took his turn, and then it was my turn to go. He YELLS at the top of his lungs for anyone in earshot to hear, "MOMEE! DON'T FORGET TO PUT YOUR PENIS DOWN!!!!"
Nice.
And then today, he worked on a massive #2. He calls them "yuckies". Normally he says, "I made a BIG yucky." Today Daddy commented that it looked more like a MAN yucky. So now he says, "I made a MAN yucky."
Awesome.
Little girl can't get here soon enough!! ETA March 29!

Pretty in Pink

How can you ever be mad at this face?! Well, I CAN, but it is hard sometimes. Playing in our bed.

Indian hat from "I" week at school last week. One of his teachers is Native American, so he learned some good stuff! And I'm pretty sure he picked out the pink parts...

Halloween Partay

We had our annual Halloween Parade at Rising Star today, and Preston joined in the fun. He LOVED it and cried crocodile (or dragon) tears when he had to leave. Some pics of the madness.
My girls. The Sock Monkey costume was my favorite. My boys. Notice the Whoopie Cushion on the far right- classic. Costume came with a farting machine. (Which I -of course- had to take away several times throughout the day. Oh, the drudgeries of being a responsible adult.)

The two dragons.

Love my mama! (I'm dressed as a Wildwood Camper- complete with lanyard earrings, bugs taped to tie-dye shirt, and owl pellet necklace. EW.)

Some computer time with the kids.

Waiting for the parade to start...
And a little bit of video- not great, but it shows what the morning was like. (Yes, we do this first thing in the morning. What a GREAT way to start a day of learning!) At the end, there is a little singing from Preston (robot style) at bedtime. Gotta love "Wheels on the Bus".

Pampers Thongs?

Could thongs be the next big trend in diapers? You decide. A little head trauma doesn't keep P from smiling.

Cutie in the bath.

F Week, Friday Night Lights, and Pumpkins

Some projects from F week at school. Flower Garden and Fabric Collage glue projects, Ferris wheel sheet, and Fern pictures for helping clean up. P finally seems to be over the hump, and even had a few days without tears at drop-off! Hooray for progress! One thing they wanted us to work on at home was drinking from a REAL cup. Coordination is NOT P's biggest strength, so it has been a challenge.
But we'll keep working on it!
Last night we took him to his first high school football game. Really, his first football game ever. He's been to several tailgates, but not to actual games. I have decided this is the perfect place for a loud, energetic 2 year old boy. PERFECT. See video at the end of the post for more on the game. We walked to Miege and watched them slaughter Mill Valley.
Then off to the Louisburg Cider Mill with some friends today. A BEAUTIFUL day for it!
Sup'. I want all of deez pumpkins.

Not the greatest start to our time here. He REALLY wanted to take this green pumpkin with us right away. Ew.

Cider Mill distraction works wonders.

Mmmmmmm...smashed apples.

Sleepy Jack arrived and wanted to cuddle with Clint.

Just plain cute.
Runnin' on the HAAAAY with Jack.
Posers.
What blue eyes you have, Mallory!
I got some good smiles from Kate, but failed to capture any of them on film. But she's a beauty.

Ellen sitting on pumpkins. I don't recall seeing her jump around on the hay. Ahh, to have a sweet girl.

Jack taking a break from it all.

Mmmmmm- apples!

And some footage from the Football game and the Cider Mill.

E week

Well, Preston survived week two of preschool. I'd like to say he has adjusted 100%, but that would be a lie. He did have two really good days, but every morning was full of tears and screams for Mommy and Daddy. Mila says that he is resisting because he is smart and realizes that we are messing with his regular routine. Lower intellect children tend to be more easy-going. And I quote, "He iz highly intelligent, there iz no doubt about that." (My attempt at typing her Russian accent.) I like when people I'm paying tell me my kid is smart. At least he isn't a freak of nature. Although there was one morning when he was throwing his temper tantrum at drop off and she said to Clint, "Vell, I've never zeen zis before." Nice. The woman has been doing this for 16 years and our kid brings new challenges to her. We are hopeful that next week will mark the beginning of smooth sailing.
Here are a few of his E projects from this week. Eruption picture for helping clean up, Easel painting, Elephant made with his own choices (long trunk, big eyes, grey ears...), and Eagle tent.

And a few clips for your enjoyment. For those who doubt that P is mine due to the fact that he looks just like Clint, here is proof. He likes to help clean- he DEFINITELY gets that from me. And a little birthday song for the kitties. MC and Phoggy turned 3 yesterday. Love those kitties! BTW, I think they know baby #2 is on the way because neither of them really want to have anything to do with me anymore. Clint is now the Alpha Cat of the house.

Back To School...

I went back to work this week (sob) and tonight we had a "sneak a peek" for the kids. They could come see the classroom, drop off supplies, and meet their teachers. And the Ice Cream Social was right after this. Lucky for me, Clint had a work dinner so I got to bring Preston to the event. He was an angel and sat in my comfy chair the whole time! Oh, wait. Nope. That's not how it went at all. It was more like, "Hello, _____. I'm so excited to have you in my class this year!" Pause for Preston to squirm out of my arms. "Did you have a nice summer?" Preston proceeds to run out of the room while screaming and laughing. "Excuse me for a minute, I have to go catch him."
And repeat about 25 times. And add throwing balls, crawling under tables, climbing ladders, and trying to eat all of my candy. I guess I have all year to get to know the kids, but I still felt bad about it.
The best part was eating ice cream in 110 degree heat with sweat dripping everywhere! But the Lenexa Fire Dept comes every year and sprays the kids with their hose, so Preston was happy to see the fire truck. We left before the water show commenced because I didn't feel like entering a wet t-shirt contest at school, and am pretty sure P would have made that happen.

"Wook, Mommy! Fi-el Twuck!"

Why are we getting in the car?? I want to see them spray 400+ kids!! (And ME)

Misc pics

A little bath time fun- saying "bye-bye" to the bubbles.
Go Jayhawks! This towel fits much better now...
Was I ever really this tiny?? This was my first bath at home!
The Rising Star Carnival was last night, so Preston and I went to check out the fun. My students LOVED seeing him and having him give high-fives and pound its. Preston REALLY wanted to go in the bouncy houses, but he is still too small. Too many big kids in there!

He got to see his buddy Eva- she gave him a hug!

And then they promptly found my purple pumpkin full of candy...amazing!

Breakfast this morning.
Presentation is everything with food, right? Maybe this will get him to eat it?

Nice try, Mom.
