Misc pics

A little bath time fun- saying "bye-bye" to the bubbles.
Go Jayhawks! This towel fits much better now...
Was I ever really this tiny?? This was my first bath at home!
The Rising Star Carnival was last night, so Preston and I went to check out the fun. My students LOVED seeing him and having him give high-fives and pound its. Preston REALLY wanted to go in the bouncy houses, but he is still too small. Too many big kids in there!

He got to see his buddy Eva- she gave him a hug!

And then they promptly found my purple pumpkin full of candy...amazing!

Breakfast this morning.
Presentation is everything with food, right? Maybe this will get him to eat it?

Nice try, Mom.

The Truth

Kids are not always rainbows and sunshine...

But we still love them anyway!

Weekend Updates

This Weekend:
We had Ellen and Jack over to play yesterday. Amazing to see the difference between the wildness of boys and the sweet, sweet calmness of a girl! I think Erin is very pleased to be having twin girls after this playdate.
Ellen wasn't so sure what to think at first. "Welcome to my house, Ellen. Would you like to play with me? I may be tall and intimidating, but I can be quite sweet, and I like younger women. I might hit Jack, but would never hit a lady." (Sorry, Jack!)

"Let me read you a story..."

Some footage of the fun.

Couch-tummy-scratching with Mama last night.
This is one of the only things I'll sit still for.

Last Weekend:
Clint and I were able to have a date night and go to Lawrence for a KU Men's Basketball game last Saturday. (Thanks to Katie and Stephen for the tickets--so sorry you were sick and couldn't come with!)
Here is a little video montage of our time in Allen Fieldhouse. Loved being back Larrytown and even went to enjoy an ice-cold Schooner at Louise's West before the game! Ahh, the glory days...

Stuck/Airplane

A little glimpse into our time together after school each day.

This one is a little long, but it is worth waiting for him to say "I SUCK" meaning to say "stuck". This is something new he likes to do in various locations throughout the house. "I SUCK! I SUCK!" He cracks me up with his little booty sticking out.

We went outside for about 10 minutes yesterday because it was a balmy 40 degrees and wasn't snowing. He loves to listen to/see airplanes, so that's what he's looking for at the beginning. And I love it when he does stuff that makes him giggle, so enjoy the fence fun!

Flame

Did you know that I'm kind of a big deal? I've held that Olympic flame you are seeing tonight. I was an "escort runner" with the torch in 1996 and ran with 5 different people who carried the Greek fire. My job was to keep them on pace and make sure they didn't pass out. A few of them let me carry it for a bit, too, and it was pretty amazing. Here is the proof from an old newspaper clipping from the KC Star...My shorts for the run...
Official COKE bottle they gave me.
You can get my autograph the next time you see me...
Enjoy the games!

Good and Bad

This is what P likes to do after dinner...

News from daycare this week- our kid likes to push and hit. Why???? We definitely don't do that at home, although he does try to hit me sometimes when he is mad that I won't turn on an episode of Dora. I do NOT like being the parent of the bully! But the GOOD news is that she also told us he is very advanced for his age- talking, talking, talking all the time. He has had a vocabulary explosion in the past few weeks. She also said he is great at stacking and is doing much more than he should be able to at this age. Take the good and bad, I guess. At least he is cute-even when he gets put in time-out for hitting.

No-s

Preston's cousins, Natalie and Julia, came to visit this week. He LOVED showing them all of his toys and playing with them! Jack came by for a visit, too. Check out his silly hat!
Look, Mom! More snow!!
Or as I like to call it "no-s".

Yes, I'm getting more teeth so I stick my fingers in my mouth all the time. The new teeth make me not sleep so well. Booooooooo.

Some dancing with my cousins, playing in the snow, and learning my shapes and colors!

January 2010 Recap

Another fun month with the Bubba Man. Click on the picture below to see the whole month. Below is a movie of him after school today. We had to do a nebulizer treatment because he has been fighting a cough and was pretty wheezy this morning. You can see what it does to him. Can you say WILD MAN??? Notice his "flash cards" all over the floor. I swear he has learned a little from them, but mostly he enjoyes throwing them all over the place and then slipping on them.

My favorite parts of the video :

1. When he stops flopping around on the bed to have me scratch his belly. This is quite literally the ONLY thing he will sit still for (besides TV).

2. The spinning around while saying, "Whoa Whoa Whoa!" at the end. I'm sure he'll do this sometime when I'm not right there and end up smashing his head on the floor, but it made me laugh today. What a funny little dude.
