Happy Halloween- October Recap

It was a busy month, but a good one for our little monkey. Some of the highlights were going to the pumpkin patch, KU Football tailgate, Mama's school, getting a balloon at the car dealership while Mama had her brakes worked on, Dada's work, Deanna Rose Farmstead, and Trick-or-Treating. Click on the first picture at Dada's work to see the whole month. RIDICULOUS number of pictures, but I am forever trying to get the perfect photo. I still haven't accomplished that feat, but will keep trying.
Wearing Dada's cowboy hat makes me happy.
Playing with the pumpkin bag and leaves. If only I could rake them...
At Natalie's birthday party today at Deanna Rose Farmstead.Cool pic of Natalie and her stuffed puppy.
Could have been the perfect lighting for a photo here, but Mama's camera batteries died before she could get a good one. Sigh.
Trick-or-Treating for the first time on our block!
This is when I finally realized that there was CANDY in my pumpkin. I WANT SOME! And a little video from Natalie's party today at the farmstead. I recommend going to this place if you haven't already! We didn't get to stay as long as we wanted, but it is very cool and FREE.

Take a look...it's in a book

Can you understand the story? Me either. But still cute, nonetheless.

Monk

Preston came to visit us at school today for our Halloween party. The kids loved meeting him, and he didn't want to leave! What a cute little monkey he is. More pics in the monkey suit to come after the weekend. Thanks to Dada for bringing him up today.
5 students are missing from this photo- sorry!! They were sick or in band playing spooky songs for the parade of costumes.

A little moonwalk tribute for Michael Jackson...

Need a laugh?

While watching The Office last week, I got an idea. Dwight did this to Michael after asking him, "Do you want me to give you the chills?" It made me giggle to see him doing something I remember doing when I was nine years old. So I decided to do it to Preston and see what happened. Take a look:
Kid giggles are the best!

Tailgate

Preston went to his first KU Football tailgate today. Of course, it is the best tailgate in the Midwest. Arguably the best in the US. He tore it up and met some new friends. And what tailgate isn't complete without a whole hog to jeer at and then eat?? Good times.
Niiiice Piggy.....
Meeting Mommy's friend Thomas for the first time.
Checking out the stadium instead of looking at the camera.
Random photo of campus while driving through- so pretty with the leaves changing!

Everyone's a critic

I decided to bust into this laptop we borrowed and do a long overdue blog post. Here are some photos from the past week or so and a movie mix of some recent happenings around here. Preston has started talking more- and I use the term "talking" loosely. There are lots of grunts and babbles, but we are starting to understand what some of the noises mean. Especially "NO-NO." He seems to have inherited a stubborn streak from someone. Weird, right??
Riding on Dada's shoulders
Running down the driveway

Holding hands with Jack at Westwood's Octoberfest
Looking for The Great Pumpkin
"Mom, this thing is HEAVY" (I told him to pick it up, and he sure tried!)

Pumpkin squatting with Jack
I kept telling him it wasn't a banana, but he didn't believe me

Videos below- Reading books, loving the vacuum, riding on Dada's shoulders, chasing the kitty, using my spoon, looking at pumpkins, going down the slide, and telling Mama "no-no' when she sings. This cracks Clint up- P honestly won't let me sing ANYthing anymore except for one book we read at bedtime. Everyone's a critic, I guess.

Sorry...

No posts lately because our computer at home is dead and I can't upload anything. I'll get some new stuff up as soon as we figure out what we are going to do. Anyone have a new, free laptop they want to give me? HA!

September Recap (a little late)

Another eventful month- I did posts on most of the things in this album, but you can click on the picture below to see the whole thing. I can't believe it is October already!!

Some of Preston's favorite things at the moment are taking bubble baths, Mommy finding his hands and feet when they push through his pajamas, playing "catch me" (still!), Mommy, Daddy, pulling MC's tail as hard as he can, talking in gibberish, giving kisses, watching The Fresh Beat Band (ugh), and eating crackers (still!). And we have STILL not mastered eating any vegetables besides baby food sweet taters. I'm sure it will happen sometime before he turns 18, but it seems impossible at the moment.

How about a few videos since I haven't posted about P in a week or so...
I think I'll call the first one "MESS" and the second one "THE MANY FACES OF PRESTON".

Wildwood Week!

This past week I went with my kids to Wildwood. (Preston had to take the back seat so I could be with my other 44 kids. I got to visit him a few times, but not for long.)We stayed 4 nights and 5 days and spent our time learning about teamwork, nature, and perseverance (among other things). It was a great week with lots of fun for the kids. I always teach an owl pellet dissection class, which they really enjoy. Who DOESN'T like digging around in owl regurgitation? Click the first picture to see the whole album.
Top 5 Events of the Week:
5. Being outside and enjoying the beautiful weather WHILE learning.
4. Third Annual Pelican Race (staff canoe race).
3. Drinking Cokes even though the kids couldn't have any.
2. Mr. Lash (principal) break-dancing in the boys' cabin (I only heard about this one...)
1. Seeing a mouse in our cabin right before bed on Thursday. EEEK! I didn't tell the girls about that one yet...but they knew about the cockroach family and other "friends" we had in there with us.
Glad to be home!
