Big Boy Bed

Did you know that if you take local firefighters some root beer floats they will let you drive the truck? A shout-out to "Uncle" Brian -- a firefighter in Wichita -- AWESOME idea! He may look tiny in there, but he's would drive this if you let him.
That was part of the morning fun today. And last night Preston climbed out of his crib again, so we decided it was time to try out the toddler bed at nap time today. This is what he thought of it. Looks like an easy transition!

Or not.
He was in and out of bed about 156 times and finally fell asleep in my arms about 2.5 hours after his nap should have started (which he hasn't done since he was about 6 months old!). I had to wake him up so he wouldn't nap until 6PM.

This is what happens when you wake a toddler. Sigh.

Not sure if we will try the big bed again tonight, but definitely don't want him climbing out of his crib and smashing his head open. What's a parent to do?? Any advice?

Cool Treat

Homemade Popsicles!

The best thing about these is that I can put them back in the freezer (in their handy little plastic container) if he doesn't finish them. He liked it tonight, but only ate about 2 real bites. I think this one popsicle could last 2 weeks!

Pep Rally

Went to Corinth Square tonight to meet some friends and help celebrate the upcoming KU football season. We got there early and left before the REAL festivities started, but it was probably for the best. Crazy thunderstorms tonight!
Here is P with the BIG Jayhawk. He kept telling me he wanted to get inside... Check out that little blur at Big Jay's feet!

Cutie Ellen. Soon after I took this picture, Preston knocked her down with a belly bump. Flirting? Or a bully? I'm not sure. I'm hoping for the former...

Their faces crack me up in this one.

Jack is here now, too! YAY!
Ominous clouds forming above cute Mom and daughter.
Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?
This was all the video I took- too busy chasing P around and sweating. Plus we had to leave a little earlier than planned due to a full scale melt-down. Bouncy house lines should NEVER be more than 2 people long or a 2 year old (and his mother) will not survive the festivities.

End of Summer

Tonight is officially my last night of summer since kids start school tomorrow. We tried to do some fun stuff this weekend with P, and I think were successful!

Tried out some big-boy undies. Batman, of course. They lasted about 20 minutes and then he was standing in a puddle of his pee looking very confused. He actually said to me, "What happened??!" Not ready for undies yet, obviously. But some day!!

Sombrero and batman undies.Classic.

Pool time- this was the first time all summer that all three of us went to the pool together. How sad is that??

And Hayes McCracken's birthday party had a bouncy house today. I honestly wish we had one of these at our house at all times. P LOVED it and literally asked to get into bed tonight. AWESOME.

Bouncy house fun!

Back To School...

I went back to work this week (sob) and tonight we had a "sneak a peek" for the kids. They could come see the classroom, drop off supplies, and meet their teachers. And the Ice Cream Social was right after this. Lucky for me, Clint had a work dinner so I got to bring Preston to the event. He was an angel and sat in my comfy chair the whole time! Oh, wait. Nope. That's not how it went at all. It was more like, "Hello, _____. I'm so excited to have you in my class this year!" Pause for Preston to squirm out of my arms. "Did you have a nice summer?" Preston proceeds to run out of the room while screaming and laughing. "Excuse me for a minute, I have to go catch him."
And repeat about 25 times. And add throwing balls, crawling under tables, climbing ladders, and trying to eat all of my candy. I guess I have all year to get to know the kids, but I still felt bad about it.
The best part was eating ice cream in 110 degree heat with sweat dripping everywhere! But the Lenexa Fire Dept comes every year and sprays the kids with their hose, so Preston was happy to see the fire truck. We left before the water show commenced because I didn't feel like entering a wet t-shirt contest at school, and am pretty sure P would have made that happen.

"Wook, Mommy! Fi-el Twuck!"

Why are we getting in the car?? I want to see them spray 400+ kids!! (And ME)

Super Cousins

Mima Ceese was kind enough to make all of the cousins super hero capes, so we did a quick photo shoot tonight...

What are their super powers?? You decide...

But I'd say that Preston's super power is having energy and a strong will.

FORE

Some more "Chicken Dance" fun. We have done this before here...BTW, what was with his hair back then?!!!? YIKES! Why didn't anyone tell me to do something about that??

I love his little wiggle dance. And the hug and kiss toward the end.

Some WT time in our TINY backyard- hitting plastic golf balls with no shirt on? Yes, please! I'm pretty certain the neighbors love us.
